MEET THE MBI TEAM

Brian Chapman has been with MBI Worldwide since it inception in 1998 and today he serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Chapman is an author, speaker and expert witness in issues pertaining to employee background screening, FCRA and compliance.  Chapman is responsible for fine-tuning MBI Worldwide into a national brand and leader in employment background screening.  This includes best practices, FCRA compliance, in addition to continuing to provide MBI’s diverse clientele with the support they need to reach their recruitment, retention, safety and financial goals.

Mr. Chapman resides in Florida and works from the St. Petersburg MBI Worldwide Executive Office but often travels to MBI’s Operations Office in Illinois.  He has a degree in Criminal Justice from John A. Logan College and holds both a Basic and Advanced FCRA Certification from the National Association of Professional Background Screeners.

Prior to his business tenure with MBI Worldwide, Brian had a distinguished law enforcement career, working both covert and overt drug enforcement for the Illinois State Police.  Mr. Chapman was also assigned to both tactical and gang operations during his employment for a local police department in Illinois.

Mr. Chapman is a Founding Member of The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), joining the industry-related professional organization in 2003.  He is a Board Member and Co-Chair on the NAPBS Credentialing Council, approving accreditation to other Consumer Reporting Agencies that fulfill compliance and best practices standards.

Chapman is host to company webinars specializing in employment background check topics including compliance, best practices and FCRA.

Mr. Chapman was recognized as one of St. Louisans Top 100 People To Know to Succeed in Business in 2015.  He has multiple accolades and awards from his law enforcement career including his two personal favorites – U.S. Department of Justice Award for Public Service and The West Central Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Award for Exemplary Service.  In 2015, he was nominated and voted into the CEO Council of Tampa Bay, with a focus on business leadership and innovation in the Tampa Bay area.

In Brian’s spare time, he is acquiring the necessary hours and studies towards his private pilot’s license.  On weekends, he can often be found on the Gulf Coast and its inlets in Southwest Florida, on his boat “Margarita Journey” – exploring with his wife, daughter (when she is home visiting from Baylor University) and son.  Brian is a prayerful entrepreneur and has always put God first in his life and in his business. He enjoys traveling, hiking and exploring; and is on a joint mission with his wife Kandi to find the world’s perfect margarita.  He loves a good Cuban cigar, a good faith-based book and a good, bold European beer, preferably all at the same time.  His favorite quote (that his children often get tired of hearing) is “It’s all about the journey.”

Brian believes in volunteering and giving back to the community.  He often volunteers time or resources to faith-based youth organizations, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Fresh Well Water Charities.
